A friendly & useful reminder:
For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
~Ephesians 2:14-22

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another. "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
~Ephesians 4:17-32

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints — and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
~Ephesians 6:10-20

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

"I'm going to be at Lestat's in San Diego tonight and I think you should be there too! The show starts at 9, but it tends to get packed so early arrival is suggested. And in case you haven't heard, I've been recording my new album and it's finally starting to take shape! I'm excited to play some new material, so if you can make it, make it!

Thanks for the support. Hope to see you tonight!"

Remnant FYI

I haven't seen much up to date information anywhere online or anything about what's going on with remnant these days, but I ran into pastor Paul at the service on sunday, and Remnant is starting up again *this week* at 7:15 on Friday nights at the sanctuary.

Prayer request
Today my freind Madeleine left her purse on the trolley. In it was $550, plus all the other usual stuff {atm card and such}. On calling her husband to tell him about it, he told her to never come home. She tells me he means it. Please pray for her, that the money would be recovered and her husband would come to see past this and forgive her.

After parties...

I went to Remnant tonight and it was pretty awesome. I especially enjoyed when Paul had us be silent before God.

One of the after parties mentioned in the bullentin was to go to the Denny's on Friars Rd near 163, but me & coded555 were the only one's who showed up. What's up with that?

*tears*
Okay, so not really, but I'm sad that I missed Remnant tonight. I went to dinner with about 20 other people. An older couple that used to live here and attend my parents' church came to visit. We were at Outback from 6:30-8:45ish. Enjoyed a good dinner with great people. I was fooling myself that I thought I would still be able to attend Remnant for a bit.

If anyone would be kind enough to share their sermon notes that'd be awesome. Also, where are we in the "More Than a Carpenter" book? Help keep me on track! Thanks so much.

Now, it's homework time for my Saturday class. Fun!

HOLLA
* How long have you been going to Remnant? The Rock?
Three weeks at Remnant (it would be five but I missed Good Friday [duh] and the Friday before that). I've been going to the Rock for like two months.
* What are the top two things you like best about Remnant?
The relevance of the message and the community that it creates
* What do you want to see Remnant become?
* How do you think the internet could best be used by the Remnant community?
I'd love to see like a message board thing that people would be encouraged to use in regards to the teachings and general questions and support. I'd like to see that for the Rock too though.

I'm here!
Hi! My name is Laura and I've been at The Rock for a couple years now. I first began attending Sunday nights(7:15) while still attending in the morning's with my family at my then, home church. Since then I have moved from the Children's Ministry there, and have been serving in Pebbles Pathway since November at the 5:15 service. I attended Remnant pretty regularly, but not every week back when Justin was here and it was at Calvary on Thursday nights. I attended a few times before the holidays with Paul at Calbary. Since we have moved to Ruffin Rd and meet on Friday nights I have only made it once, which was the week before Good Friday. I feel that Paul really knows how to reach out to our age and those who are new to church. I don't know too many people at Remnant, but I'm sure when I get into the swing of things I'll get to know more people as I do at my 7:15 service. I need to keep reminding myself that Remnant is Friday night. :)

Roll Call!
I have been going to Remnant off and on almost as long as I've been going to the Rock. I went to the Rock for the first time in Nov. 2003, and Remant, I went the first time in December, for the very last Remnant before they went "underground". I stopped going when pastor Justin left, and they were having different pastors and speakers every week. But now I'm back again, and once I come back once, I just feel drawn to keep coming back, why I'm not sure, its just one of those things that if I don't want to go I probably need to be there more than anything. :) Top two favorite things about remnant though? Hmmm, Really, I'd have to say the fellowship and the unswavering focus on God.

Roll call!
Who actually uses this community? Who goes to Remnant? I feel like it's time for a roll call. See who all's around. This is also a great place for anyone new to Remnant to introduce themselves. If you are reading this entry, you must post. Muahaha. :-)

So, some questions:
  • How long have you been going to Remnant? The Rock?
  • What are the top two things you like best about Remnant?
  • What do you want to see Remnant become?
  • How do you think the internet could best be used by the Remnant community?
Of course, add in any other questions of your own or observations or opinions as you see fit.

(By the way, I'm also the guy working on a new website for the college ministry, so it's time I really start asking questions about this "online community" stuff. Any and every bit of opinion and input you have, I need.)

Let's get this started!
Hey Remnant peoples! I'm Laura. I'm just geting back into Remnant. Actually last week was my first week back since we moved to Ruffin Rd. I'm trying to fit Friday nights into my schedule. I'm glad to find this community, but I see that it's been alive since Jan 4, 2004 and there are no posts! I'm surprised. Let's see if we can get some conversation in here.

Does your family have an Easter tradition you'd like to share?

My family and I usually attend church together. This year, they will go to their church, and I will be at Cox.
